Attention Ethanol/Biodiesel Investors I have been contacted by a capital placement firm that is presenting a combined ethanol/biodiesel biorefinery in the Midwest to professional investors. . The bio-refinery will be built in two stages. The 40 million gallon biodiesel facility will be built in 2007 and the 50 million gallon ethanol facility in 2008. First year revenues are expected to be $86 million, with $185 million yearly expected after the ethanol plant comes online, with an EBITDA of approximately $30 million. The company expects to be cash positive in the first year. By combining the Ethanol and Biodiesel facilities, average return on invested capital (50% debt, 50% equity) is expected to be 21.2%, an increase of 3.69% over stand alone facilities. The biorefinery will be perfectly situated in an area with minimal competition, abundant feedstocks, and easy access to both rail and trucking. The area is rich in corn (ethanol feedstock), soy bean oil (biodiesel feedstock) and, additionally, corn oil, a by-product of the ethanol production process, will provide 10% of the feedstock for the biodiesel facility. The facilities will be located on the Union Pacific Mainline and adjacent to 3 interstate highways, with access to possible pipelines to local and national markets. The company prefers an affiliation with established, renewable energy companies, but they are prepared to recruit their own management if necessary. EPC contracts will be provided by Burns & McDonnell, as general contractor, utilizing Westphalia and ICM, respectfully for the biodiesel and ethanol production technologies.
